Canterbury Manufactured Homes is hiring sales associates to work with Mobile Home Park Managers and Owners to improve their cash flows. We have found that many parks have vacancies and if there is one thing that drives a park owner crazy, it’s missing out on rent!
We specialize in working with park owners. Our prices are thousands and often tens of thousands of dollars less than the traditional manufactured home dealer. Our overhead is low, and we believe in making a small profit on a lot of homes rather than a large profit on a few. By paying so much less than they can get a home for elsewhere, they can sell it at an attractive price, or use it as a rental, usually getting an immediate return on their investment as well as the space rent.
We are looking for honest, reliable people who are interested in building their own business within the Canterbury Manufactured Homes organization. Each person will be given an exclusive territory near their home consisting of as many mobile home parks as they can reasonably represent. This is a full or part time position and as an independent contractor, each person will determine the hours they will work. Each home sold will generate an attractive commission to the associate.
We also have small homes called park models. These cute little cabins are limited to a maximum of 400 sq. ft., and are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Motor Vehicles. You will also want to obtain a license with DMV (no test) as there is a strong market for these homes. We are currently assisting a park owner in Pixley, Ca in filling his RV park with park models. He has 90 spaces and is filling them quickly, using the homes as rentals. We also have a new financing opportunity for park owners wishing to place park models in their park for daily rentals. This is a great marketing tool we have not previously had.
Sales experience may be an asset or a negative. We believe in working hard to assist the customer to achieve his goal. We are not interested in hard sell, pushy associates. Our goal is to make a friend of the park owner and manager so they think of us anytime they need another home, or one of their residents needs a home. Being a good communicator, with honesty and integrity are the best assets you can have.
We will work with you to show you how to market our homes. We will do personal training with you and will come assist whenever you would like. You will obtain product knowledge about our homes and how to affectively market them to the park. Most salespeople in our industry sit back in an office and complain about how slow business is. We get out and meet the owners and managers and show an interest in their park. The combination of sincerity, pricing and service is something they are not use to and something that will lead to many satisfied customers.
You are not limited to marketing to owners and managers. Making friends with the manager will often get you referrals for tenants wishing to upgrade to a new home, or new residents to a park. We can do workshops with park tenants to show them how to replace their tired old home with a new, modern one.
You are not limited to sales in parks. If you run across someone wanting a second home on their property, or any other use, you can assist them. Lot’s of options!
You will need to obtain a sales license through HCD (Housing and Community Development). The license is not difficult to obtain and we will pay for your schooling and licensing fees. You should be able to pass your test in just a couple of weeks and should have a license in hand in 30-60 days. You will be fingerprinted and a background check done by HCD, so if you have warrants, owe back child support, or are just not a good person, we’re not interested.
We have a simple format to order the homes with the options requested. You will work with the customer to determine the right floor plan, assist them in selecting options as well as colors, countertops and floor coverings. All homes will be ordered through our corporate office in Chico, Ca. Escrows will be handled by our corporate office so all you have to do is get the escrow papers signed and the check to order the home.

While expenses for you are low, you do have to have some financial stability. You will be paid a flat fee for each home sold with no draws or salary (similar to real estate sales).

We are currently placing up to 22 new park models in the North Noyo Park in Fort Bragg.
